Why do you blog?

'CAUSE I GOT NO PLACE ELSE TO GO.
Littering, long showers, not recycling... What's your biggest pet peeve about the way some people (mis)treat our planet?
Sponsored by One Million Acts of Green brought to you by Cisco.
Littering has always been up there, especially douchebags who drop shit on the ground mere feet from a bin.
My biggest beef, really, is the automobile. Specifically...
- People who buy cars that are larger and more fuel guzzly than they need for their day to day usage.
- People who drive short, walkable distances.
- People who drive to places that are easily reachable on public transport.
Heck, I used public transport for most of my journey to and from work when my house and office were two hours apart by car (and significantly more by public transport).
Walking is free, a bike is cheap, public transit in a big city like Chicago is cheap, reliable and likely to go pretty much anywhere you need to get most days. The impact on your pocket and health is pretty substantial if you replace car journeys with walking and biking.
What is your favorite classic video arcade game?

My mum and step-dad went to Ibiza one year. They decided to leave all of us kids with my step-dad's parents in Staffordshire.
Being rather hip and with it despite their advancing years, they decided to take us to not one but two theme parks over the course of the week. Alton Towers being one of the largest in the UK, and Drayton Manor being a smaller deal, albeit one with a mini-zoo and an arcade.
It was in this arcade that I, along with three unknown Japanese tourists, completed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Arcade Game. I don't recall putting any more than £1 into the machine - and in those days, a credit was 20p, so that was a mere five credits.
The game remains the nuts. Go download it on Xbox Live Arcade.
What would you like written on your tombstone?
WTF? UR DEAD M8! LOL!
Who is going to win Super Bowl XLIII? The unlikely Arizona Cardinals or five-time Super Bowl champs, the Pittsburgh Steelers?
I hope it's the Pittsburgh Steelers, but only because my friend Jason is from Pittsburgh and his surname is Steele. Other than that, I couldn't give a damn about American football. It's stupid.
What's your favorite TV commercial?

This, because it made me fall in love with The Silver Seas.
This is my second favourite song by them...
Which countries have you visited? Which countries are on your list to visit?
Aside from England...
- Wales
- Scotland
- Ireland
- France
- Belgium
- USA
- US Virgin Islands
- Canada (well, I was in Newfoundland for about an hour)
I really want to see Spain, Japan, more of Canada... then everywhere else except scary places.
What's your New Year's resolution for 2009? How did you do with 2008's?
I don't remember making one for 2008. For 2009, I aim to...
- Be more charitable
- Eradicate any last credit card debt
- Eat more fruit and vegetables
Today is Boxing Day, a holiday based on the tradition of giving gifts to the less fortunate members of society. In keeping with that spirit, what did you do in 2008 to help out those in need?
I set up a recurring donation to the Chicago Canine Rescue, donated toys to Toys For Tots, donated food to the Greater Chicago Food Depository (and signed up to volunteer for a day in January), bought a t-shirt for Child's Play, and we donated to, I believe, the Lupus Foundation and Planned Parenthood earlier this year.
I'm only namedropping as they are all fantastic causes.
From childhood 'til now... What's the best Christmas present you've ever received?
Another three-way tie this one.
1983 (I think): Castle Greyskull from Father Christmas
1993 (I think): me and my siblings pooled Christmas money for a Super Nintendo
2007: an electro-acoustic guitar from Jess
