What are some things that are worth (and not worth) spending money on?

I'm probably the worst person to ask - I spend most of my money on CDs, computer games and gadgets. This week, I spent $15 on stuff to personalise my desk at work: two Mario toys; and I am currently looking for a cool, classic-looking Batman figure (none of this modern cartoon Batman crap).
